Race Day

Travelling by Train - The nearest train station is Saunderton just a few miles from Bledlow Ridge. Either pre-book a taxi or even run it as a warm up if you are really keen!

Travelling by Car - The address for the car park area is Chinnor Road, Bledlow Ridge HP14 4AW - we recommend using this postcode in your SatNav.  This will take you very close to the official car park, and marshals will direct you from there.  We recommend arriving at the car park by 8.45am and no later than 9.15am in order to get to Race HQ in good time.  Race HQ is a 5-10 minute walk from the car park, at Bledlow Ridge School, Church Lane, Bledlow Ridge, Bucks HP14 4AZ.

Car Parking (car parks open at 0800)- There will be one official car park on private land for the race, with space for several hundred competitors' cars at no charge.  It is located in the field opposite to the entrance to Scrubbs’ Lane, and will be clearly signposted and marshaled.  Please do not park your car anywhere except the official car park.  Bledlow Ridge is a small village and there is no on-road parking available for competitors. Please park sensibly and ensure you lock your car as we can take no responsibility for any loss or damage to your car or belongings. Please note that the car park is a 500 metre walk from the HQ so please allow plenty of time.   Upon completion of the race, competitors and supporters, returning to their cars, are advised that other runners will be still finishing the race and you are requested to return to the car park along the grass verge to the left of the road. This will be signposted and marshaled. Thank you for your cooperation around this matter.

Registration - Race numbers are not being sent out prior to the race. Please allow sufficient time to collect your race number from the main school hall on the morning of the race. Please ensure you complete your name, emergency number and any allergies or relevant medical conditions on the reverse of the race number. Please ensure that you are at the on the school field by 9.20am latest for the Half Marathon, and 10.20 latest for the 10k to listen to the mandatory safety briefing..

In the event of adverse weather conditions that force us to cancel the race, an email will be sent to your registered email address and information posted on the website / Facebook and Twitter pages as soon as possible.  A Go / No Go decision in the event of adverse weather conditions will be taken by 7.30 on the day of the race.

Timings (These are mainly the timings from the 2019 race. They are to be confirmed for 2020.)

Changing and Kit Storage - There are changing facilities available at the Village Hall between the Car Park and the Race HQ, as well as at the school.  There is no bag drop at the Village Hall - please make sure you take all bags to the school. Please note that there are no shower facilities at either the race HQ or Village Hall.  The facilities will not be locked so please do not store valuables.

Refreshments - There will be various hot and cold food and drinks for sale at Race HQ.

Toilets - Please note that there are limited toilet facilities at the Race HQ (school). Please do not use the school playing fields!

Dogs - Please note that dogs are not allowed on the school grounds.

Walking the Course - We have no objection to you walking the 10k course if you choose, but to be fair to our marshals, we will let them depart the course no later than 12.45am, and signs marking the course will be removed at the same time.  If you are still running / walking after this time, the Last Runner will advise you that you are no longer deemed to be participating in the event and we will not be able to provide you with marshals and facilities beyond that point.  If you expect to take longer than 1 hour 45 minutes to complete the course, please ensure you have a map of the course with you.  We suggest that you do not walk the Half Marathon course - if you are unable to continue the race, please make yourself known to the marshals and they will arrange for you to get back to the school.

Water Stations - Please note that there will be four water stations along the half Marathon route (approx every 5km), and one on the 10k route. The Half Marathon route links up to the 10k route on the return to school; the last water station will be shared.  Further free water for competitors will be provided at the finish.

First Aid and Marshalling - In the event of you requiring first aid at any point during the event, please notify a marshal who will contact our first aid people. The marshals along the course are there for your safety and the safety of your fellow competitors and road users. Please make sure you listen to any instructions they give you and pay attention to any race signage.
